Architecture is one of oldest challenges of integrating aesthetics and emotional relevancy with technical robustness. In a way, architects are like violin players, expressing their soul through the service of creating structures that satisfy the wants and needs of people, usually for those who can afford it. But what about those who can't afford it? And what about the environmental and societal impacts? Morton Frank is an architect who has dedicated his life to answering those questions.

He is championing the creation of a Green Community Center in North Fair Oaks, CA. It's a venture to manufacture green-certified, prefabricated housing units, onsite in the community, for the community. It's purpose is provide low income housing, green jobs training, energy efficiency, renewables and communications infrastructure. There's still a lot of money from The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for this kind of thing...

The long term vision is to demonstrate a scalable model for neighborhood improvement through energy efficiency.

We’ve invited three SVII’ers to act as “lenses” to guide a group dialog:

David Allen Foster – Mutlifarious Designer & Parallel Entrepreneur

Gary Shamshonian - Corporate Green Building Champion

Bill Veltrop – Architect of Generative Change

Come join the fun as we explore the prospects for an actual brick-and-mortar regional metamorphosis project!
